There are a number of characteristic symptoms that indicate the development of a concussion. The pet behaves strangely, cannot navigate normally, does not recognize its owner. Sometimes aggression is noted, the animal growls and tries to bite its owner. In case the head injury is received by the pet not in front of the owner, experts strongly recommend paying attention to the following symptoms:
Hematomas and abrasions in the head area, fresh wounds. Severe blows are often accompanied by the appearance of extensive hematomas.
Change in the hue of the mucous membranes. The gingiva and conjunctiva of the eye turn pale, in some cases, on the contrary, redness is noted.
Pathological changes in the eyeball of the animal. The pupil is not naturally constricted or dilated. Concussion is characterized by shaking of the iris, the appearance of spots on the pupil. Severe injuries are characterized by impaired response to the light beam. Temporary blindness may occur, the eyeball itself is diagnosed with trembling.
Problems while making movements. The animal with brain damage during concussion bumps into familiar objects, rests its head against the wall, trying to keep moving.
Apathetic, lethargic state, severe drowsiness. In some cases, the dog begins to show unmotivated aggression, ceasing to recognize its owner.
Rejection of food, bouts of nausea and vomiting.
Cramps in the muscles of the muzzle, convulsions in the limbs, pelvic or thoracic.
Respiratory problems. An animal with a concussion suffers from shortness of breath and heart rhythm is impaired.
Circulatory problems with a concussion, lead to insufficient blood flow to the brain. Pressure inside the skull increases, not infrequently resulting in vascular wall rupture and hemorrhage.
