An education parliament organised by Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) at Jantar Mantar brought together individuals from educational institutions from across the country. 

The gathering spoke strongly against the Centre’s “constant attacks on the education system” including the introduction of the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and Central Universities Bill. 

The education parliament also raised the issue of alleged saffronisation of education and substandard appointments at various educational institutions.

According to a resolution passed at the gathering: “This education parliament strongly condemns the saffronised, partisan and sub-standard appointments to various educational institutions and committees, aimed at saffronising the content of education and also degrading the quality of education. 

“The house extends solidarity with movements across institutions such as FTII, Pondicherry University and others where students are resisting such attempts.” 

The education parliament also came out strongly against the recently-implemented CBCS at Delhi University and resolved Things To Do In Pondicherry intensify the ongoing struggle against the “undemocratic imposition of CBCS across campuses”. 

The participants at the education parliament included students and teachers representatives from Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Lucknow University, Aligarh Muslim University, IGNOU, Magadh University, JNU, Film and Television Institute of India Pune, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Mumbai University, Osmania University, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay University( Gorakhpur), Patna University, Punjab University, Ram Manohar Lohiya Awadh University, Ruhelkhand Univ(Bareily), Thong Nokbe College, Uttar Pradesh Pravidik University, Veer Kunwar Singh University (Ara), West Bengal State University.
