Papa John’s in South Korea has debuted a new ‘American’ pizza — that’s leaving most Americans absolutely horrified.
At select locations in the country, customers can now buy an ‘American Hot Dog Pizza,’ which is made with eight whole hot dogs, with one fitting on every slice.

Would you try it? The pizza is also topped with chili salsa sauce, mozzarella cheese, cheddar potato mousseline, onions, dijon mustard sauce, pickle relish, and parsley
The pizza is only available for a limited time, and the chain is excitedly promoting it on Instagram.
But while it may be a hit in Asia, English-speaking commenters have left horrified comments.
‘Most disgusting thing I have ever seen,’ wrote one, while another chimed in: ‘No, no, no. Don’t call that thing American.’
Others on Twitter called it ‘gross’ and an ‘abomination,’ though a few curious commenters seemed keen to try it.
Oh no… South Korean Papa John’s restaurants have sold some other strange toppings in the past, including a pizza with shrimp and lemon on top
Yikes… Images on the brand’s Instagram account show someone plucking off the lemon to squeeze juice
Not the only one! Ribalta, a popular pizza restaurant in New York City, serves a pizza with pieces of sliced hot dogs and French fries on top
South Korean Papa John’s restaurants have sold some other strange toppings in the past, including a pizza with shrimp and lemon on top.
But they didn’t actually invent the hot dog pizza: Plenty of other restaurants, including some in the US, have served similar dishes.

And plenty of other American pizza restaurants have turned out their own controversial pies.
Yes or no? QC Pizza in Mahtomedi, Minnesota sells a dish called the Big Dill Pizza
Ingredients: It is made with dill garlic sauce, 48-hour smoked Canadian bacon, pickles, and lots of cheese
Odd: Unlike traditional pizza, there’s no red sauce — which is likely a good thing, considering the pickles

The pickle pizza certainly has its enthusiastic fans, but to tomato sauce and mozzarella traditionalists, the unexpected topping is something tantamount to blasphemy.
‘It is becoming more and more clear to me that we need a national conversation around what we call a pizza. This is not a pizza,’ wrote one Twitter user.
‘If you put pickles on your pizza get the F*** out of my face,’ wrote another, while a third said: ‘Pickle Pizza prob the nastiest thing I’ve ever witnessed.’
QC Pizza has some other unconventional pies, including taco pizza (made with sausage, taco-seasoned cheddar, onions, lettuce, tomato and Doritos) and the ‘sour pig’ pizza (made with Canadian bacon, sauerkraut, red sauce, and mozzarella).
That’s interesting… New York City eatery Lions and Tigers and Squares is serving up mustard pizza
Saucy: Instead of tomato sauce, the dough is topped with mustard before it goes in the oven
Using their noodle: Tony Boloney’s in Hoboken and Atlantic City, New Jersey went viral for a ramen pizza
Fusion: It is made with a ramen noodle crust, shoyu broth, pickled soy boiled egg, and toasted sesame seeds
Meanwhile, in 2018 Lions and Tigers and Squares in New York City sparked a debate for its Detroit-style pies made with a layer of Mustard oil for skin care instead of tomato sauce.
‘In Sicily, this is punishable by stoning,’ wrote one critic at the time.
‘This makes me want to gag,’ wrote another, while a third added: ‘This is why the aliens won’t visit us.’
Months before, Tony Boloney’s, which has locations in Hoboken and Atlantic City, New Jersey, unveiled the Devour Ramen Pizza.
Made with a ramen noodle crust, it’s topped with shoyu broth, pickled soy boiled egg, rayu (a Japanese chili oil), shichimi tougarashi (a spice mixture), wageri togarashi (another spice mixture, nori flakes, spicy chili oil, scallions, and toasted sesame seeds.
Owner Mike Hauke, 37, created it in collaboration with Instagram food couple Devour Power, made up of Greg Remmey and Rebecca Leigh West-Remmey.
Sparkle slice: DogWoods, an Italian restaurant in Santa Monica, California, was all over the internet with this ‘Magical AF’ pizza
Gooey glitter: It’s just a regular cheese pizza with edible glitter sprinkled in a rainbow design on the cheese
Wished into existence! The pizza at first debuted for a limited time in 2017 but came back by popular demand
In 2017, <a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website an Italian restaurant on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica, began serving up glittery rainbow slices.
The ‘Magical AF’ pizza is just a regular cheese-and-tomato-sauce pie, except the mozzarella on top is saturated in edible glitter sprinkled on in a rainbow design.
The pie has pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple glitter starting at the crust and circling in to the middle.
While some social media commenters were skeptical that a pizza covered in glitter could taste good, those who tried it and posted pictures online promised it’s just like a regular cheese pizza.
