The vast majority of influencers on struggle to make money because there are now too many people hoping to get rich online, the manager of some of Australia’s biggest social media stars has revealed.
However, those with more than 8million followers and brand deals can make up to $30,000 a month.
Taylor Reilly – the 21-year-old Brisbane-based manager of six Tik Tok stars who have 28million followers between them – said successful social media influencers needed to be among the top five per cent of creators to ‘make good money’.
‘From my experience, most influencers struggle to make money these days mainly due to the fact that becoming a content creator is getting more and more saturated,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.
‘You have so many people spending their spare hours producing videos that it’s no longer super “unique” to have a YouTube or TikTok channel.’

Social media influencers can monetise 10-second videos if enough viewers watch their content on YouTube, leading them to get a commission for every 1,000 people who view it – via a ‘cost per thousand’ – or cost per mille (CPM) – measure.
