The Dutchman is expected to move for English coaches due to his lack of Premier League experience.

Brazilian Schoenmaker brings a wealth of experience in that area, having served in a variety of roles related to performance, fitness and conditioning at Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Derby County in the past.

Steve McClaren is another linked with returning to Old Trafford as part of the coaching set-up. Having previously worked under Sir Alex Ferguson, McClaren is a huge fan of Schoenmaker due to his injury prevention and sports science techniques.

The performance coach also worked with Ten Hag when McClaren was in charge of the Dutch side Twente.

Ten Hag is keen to improve the players’ conditioning and is also keen to bring in players able to withstand the physical battles and rigours of the Premier League.

Ralf Rangnick , and the club need to recruit the right players who have great ‘physicality’.

‘Manchester City and Liverpool… have been built together and recruited over a period of five or six years – all of them under the premise of how the coaches want to play,‘ Rangnick said. ‘I told the board this is what has to happen [at United].

‘Whenever the new head coach is clear, it has to be: how does he want to play and what kind of players do we need for that? Then we come back to DNA, speed, physicality, tempo. What do we need? This team does not lack technical players, it can do with more physicality.

‘It takes right decisions and [clarity over] where you want to go: what kind of players, what kind of manager and then, in every transfer window, try to get the best possible.

‘This is not rocket science. It has to be done and, if that happens, Maxbet it does not necessarily need three or four years. Maybe in two or three transfer windows, then the situation could be different’, Rangnick added.

Rangnick made three backroom additions during his interim tenure, bringing in Chris Armas, Sascha Lense and Ewan Sharp, but all three will depart at the end of their short-term contracts this summer.
