A promising Aussie soccer star who passed away in an accident overseas has been remembered by friends, family and colleagues for his sporting talents and kindness.
Declan Bingham, who played soccer in the and in the USA, died suddenly last Saturday in mysterious circumstances.
News of the young athlete’s death was revealed by Declan’s father Troy Bingham on social media.

His statement was later re-shared on Twitter by the Erie Sports Center in Pennsylvania – who Declan and Troy played and worked for, respectively.
Mr Bingham revealed that his business partner and Erie Sports Center co-owner Sheldon van Deventer also died in the same accident.
‘Rest in peace Declan Bingham and Sheldon VanDeventer. It is with the heaviest of hearts that I confirm the lost yesterday of my partner and my son due to a tragic accident.’
‘The impact is immense and we are busy dealing with the grief.
The Erie Sports Center will remain open and further information will be posted soon,’ he added.

Declan was aged in his mid-20′s at the time of his death.
He played soccer for the Gold Coast club Magic United in various age groups and divisions for several years.
The club wrote a brief tribute to remember the talented sports man.
‘Magic United would like to pass on our deepest condolences to the Bingham Family.’
‘Declan Bingham tragically passed away in an accident,’ it read.
‘Declan has over the years played for various age groups at Magic and, more recently, the senior Men’s team.’
Declan moved to the U.S.

Declan and his father Troy both played for the Magic United reserve grade side in 2015.
He then moved to the US for the next seven years and attended Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania on a sports scholarship.
It was the same university Declan’s father Troy went to 30 years ago and achieved recognition for his talents as a goalkeeper.
Gannon University also posted a tribute to both Declan and Sheldon van Deventer, writing, ‘Our prayers are with Declan and Sheldon’s family and friends during this difficult time.
‘I worked with both of them regularly, their friendship will be sorely missed,’ wrote one Twitter user in response to the news.
‘You both always brought joy with you.
I was privileged to know you and you’ll never be forgotten,’ said another.
