Voronovo – a village in the Ostashkovsky district of the Tver region of Russia.
Geography
It is located two from the Volgoverkhovye village along the Volgoverkhovye – Svapusche dirt road. The Volga River flows through the village (in the form of a stream 1.5 meters wide).
Story
According to the data of 1859, 21 peasants lived in Voronovo, in 1889 there were already 81 people. But due to the remoteness from the lakes (Peno, Seliger), in Soviet times, the population began to decrease: in 1968 there were already 41 people, and in 1989 there were only 7. At the moment, in the village they live on a permanent basis in only two houses, the rest are settled only summer. During the Great Patriotic War, the village ended up in the occupied territory.
The second bridge across the Volga
The village used to be the location of the second bridge across the Volga. The bridge is captured in a photograph by MP Dmitriev of the early 20th century and was a wooden structure 3-4 meters long. Currently, there is no bridge on this section; it was replaced by an embankment. This embankment is the first road crossing over the Volga.
