The BC Sports community lost two of their most beloved members this weekend in Andy Jick and Marie Grip. Although I met Andy Jick when I was a student, I didn’t know him like I knew Marie. Jick has been part of the fabric of BC sports for two decades as the PA announcer for basketball and other sports. There was a lot to like (improved play in 2nd half, good Pop post moves, etc) yet the most interesting part of the broadcast might have been the extended discussion of Wynston Tabbs. The broadcast team for both will be Randy Lee. In addition to supporting your children’s participation, helping their team find quality team sports uniforms that stand up to the requirements and look good is important. Should you be playing a sport against a rival who was simply wearing high quality sports clothes and accessories created especially for the sport that you were playing and you were wearing regular sports clothes you’d already be at a disadvantage. Now there is no need to search and find the latest fitness equipment and accessories. Sports equipment before buying. It can deliver the real time happening of the news and thus the sports fans who are watching the game get the real time entertainment with the watcher of the play ground.
And for those who did get to know her through BC, she was very genuine. She was a realist without being a pessimist, someone who could be empathetic but also critical, all why showing a great sense of humor and grace. She reached out to me very early on in the blog and has been a great voice of reason for me and others for years. When you read hot seat talk from plugged in guys, I do give it some weight. Clearly. He is an ACC level player, would have taken some of the pressure off of Bowman and improved our D. Heck he still might give us a boost. No one is promising if or when he will return, but if he is back by the ACC Tourney, BC might pull off some upsets. Let’s hope he gets back to soccer’s highest level sooner rather than later. You hope that the Eagles make the cut that year. I hope that BC is on the right path to fix ours. The key is always finding the right coach and giving that coach the right time and support to turn things around. I have always believed in giving my 120 percent in everything I do, and if I can’t do that, I know it’s not the right thing to do. The two big things Allen concentrated on in the preseason look positively fixed now. Things finally seemed to come together in the Hockey East Tournament. Yes there is still a tournament in Madison Square Garden and yes many of the teams they play are familiar, but the Big East is not the Big East of the ’80s or Minnesota United FC Store even the Big East of the 2000s. TV audiences are smaller. BC made it to the finals and nearly stole an NCAA Tournament bid, but ultimately came up short losing 3-2 to Northeastern. Hindsight is 20/20. With the losing streak, the Alumni Stadium problems during the Syracuse game, the Addazio extension, the Texas A&M issues, and now this, it hasn’t been an easy few weeks for Martin Jarmond. We know a few will be average. The ACC announced the kickoff for the matchup with Louisville will be 12:30. The game will be on your regional sports network and NESN in the Boston area. Then there is something totally unexpected, like a cancelled bowl game.
