5 years agoThe movie is set in the Seventies in the suburbs of Colorado, the place youngsters are being hunted down by a serial killer often identified as The Grabber. Enter young Finney Shaw, who after being tricked by the Grabber disguised as a magician, is kidnapped and locked away in a soundproof basement. The younger abductee finds an old disconnected black cellphone and learns of its ability to transmit the voices of all the Grabber’s young victims who want to assist him escape. In the meantime, Finney’s sister Gwen starts having visions that could lead her down a path to assist her discover her kidnapped brother. Robert Cargill, relies on a short story by author Joe Hill. The story centers round a boy who is kidnapped and brought to a mysterious, blood-stained cellar, where a disconnected black telephone rings at night with calls from kids who’ve been murdered there.

Derrickson is fully flexing in his comfort zone after leaving low-budget horror to helm the first “Doctor Strange” film at Marvel.
Director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots and partners once more with the foremost brand within the style, Blumhouse, with a new horror thriller. An official trailer was released online on October thirteen, 2021. After watching the trailer, The A.V. Club wrote that “Hawke looks to be having a ball as the Pennywise-meets-Wonka youngster killer.” Scott Derrickson was working with Marvel Studios on the Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange within the Multiverse of Madness when he determined to make The Black Phone along with his frequent collaborator C.
Despite those similarities, though, this movie manages to be one thing fully impartial. It’s hopeful in ways that Sinister never was (and shouldn’t have been), but there’s also seemingly no resolution to the horrors that Finney and Gwen face. You’ll see sturdy parallels between the Grabber and the kids’ alcoholic father.
