Biography
Born on November 20, 1944 in the city of Zaraysk, Moscow Region.
Since 1969, after graduating from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, he has been working at the Physics and Power Engineering Institute in Obninsk. Consecutively held the positions of senior laboratory assistant, engineer, junior researcher, senior researcher, laboratory chief, deputy director, director (1996-2010), scientific supervisor (since 2010).
Specialist in the field of physical and technical problems of special nuclear energy. Took part in the work on the creation of the first domestic space nuclear power plant „BUK” with thermoelectric energy conversion, the world’s first space nuclear power plant „TOPAZ” with thermal emission radiation.
In 2000-2002. represented Russia in the advisory group on nuclear energy under the Director General of the IAEA. Representative of Russia in the political group of the international project Generation IV and of Russia for Russian-American cooperation in the field of civil energy. of the Nuclear Society of Russia (2002-2003). Member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on nuclear energy and the Scientific Council of the RAS on the complex problem „Methods of direct conversion of various types of energy.” Member of the editorial board of the journals „Atomic Energy” and „Nuclear Energy”. Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian scientific institutions involved in work on the International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO). Member of the editorial board of the journal Laser and particle beams (Cambridge university)
Member of the Regional Coordination Council for Science, Innovative Technologies and Education under the Governor of the Kaluga Region, Deputy Chairman of the Coordination Council for the Obninsk Science City, member of the Regional Expert Council under the Government of the Kaluga Region. Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council (STC) of Obninsk.
Published 240 scientific papers, including 5 monographs.
