Ollie Locke reveals he is trying a second time to have a baby via IVF

Ollie Locke has exclusively revealed that he and husband Gareth are in Cyprus for their second attempt to have a baby via IVF. 

The star, 34, who announced in July that the first try had been unsuccessful, told MailOnline they will know in two weeks whether the latest egg transfer will bring them the news they’ve been yearning for.

Ollie said: ‘We are in Cyprus right now and an egg was transferred yesterday for the second time!

‘I’m sat here right now, if I’m completely honest, with a beer in front of me in a beach club. We are taking it very easy with jazz in the background. 

‘We are with our surrogate and her husband and she has an embryo growing inside her – hopefully!’ he detailed. 

The couple – who have willingly provided regular updates on their surrogacy journey – are on the sunny island for a week, with Ollie saying he hopes they are ‘all set to go’ after spending a whole day in hospital on Thursday. 

Explaining the process, Ollie said: ‘What they say is, you are pregnant until otherwise notified. It’s just whether they [the eggs] latch on. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. 

‘Theoretically, at this time you have to say incredibly positive, but we did that last time and obviously it didn’t work. We will find out in two weeks.’

Ollie and Gareth tied the knot last November and avid Made In Chelsea enthusiasts could watch their nuptials – the most viewed wedding worldwide of 2020 – on the E4 show. 

And the television star candidly recalled the moment he knew they were ready to embark on parenthood together. 

‘Now I’m in my mid thirties, I thought that potentially there was something very, very missing and as all of my friends started doing it, I learned that I needed to be a father,’ he said.

‘More than anything it was Gareth when he was playing with India my goddaughter – Binky’s daughter. I sat there and I was like ‘why am I being mad? We are both absolutely in a position to have children.’ 

‘I was like ‘Gareth is so good with kids, I’m really good with kids. We need a family.”

Amid their personal experience with surrogacy, the pair are keen to see a change in the legislation surrounding the arrangement, something which they hope to do via their positive platforms. 

‘The law hasn’t been changed in 30 years. I think it would be a lack of responsibility to not do something about it when potentially we can,’ he said.

Of homosexual couples, he added: ‘As the times have moved on, we now need to refresh because it’s a bit like ‘oh you can get married but we are going to make it really difficult for you to have children.”   

Ollie, admitting that they’ve been previously called ‘selfish’ for choosing the ‘biological route’, continued: ‘A lot of people say to us why don’t you adopt? A lot of those people haven’t adopted themselves. When you have that discussion it’s quite interesting.’

The reality star was frank about surrogacy and offered words of advice to those who may be in similar circumstances.

‘Annoyingly there is no one way of doing this [surrogacy] – there’s an awful lot that has to change in Britain. In a year, game slot gacor terbaik we’ve made loads of mistakes that’s lost us loads of money through it. 

‘Get a couple of months talking about it under your belt because it will save you an awful lot of money and an awful lot of time – and potentially hurt when you don’t go to the right place,’ he urged. 

Ollie may have become a household name through Made In Chelsea – the contract for which he signed 11 years ago – and he reflected on his over-a-decade growth.

‘It’s eleven years ago this week I signed my contract for Made In Chelsea. It’s been a long time. It’s changed an awful lot – no we have changed an awful lot. 

‘We’re now grown ups. I signed my contract at 23 with a girlfriend. I’m now in Cyprus 11 years later, married to a man and trying to have a baby through surrogacy.’

An optimistic outlook is what Ollie upholds the most and, when asked his hopes for the end of the year, he chimed: ‘Hopefully a positive pregnancy test that continues throughout 2022!’
